Literacy Week

Primary school celebrated Literacy Week from 9th September 2013 to 13th September 2013. We discussed four different authors - H. G. Wells, Jules Verne, Mark Twain and Anna Sewell -  and were involved in a few interesting activities about these authors like Author Study, Poster making, writing a character sketch and role play. Mrs. Meenakshi, the principal of Primary School, held a story session with fifth grade on the classic book Moby Dick where we discussed the summary of the book. Since it was Roald Dahl's birth anniversary on the 13th, in our library period we did a few fascinating activities about his book. To add excitement to literacy week, we had a Willy Wonka style Gems sale! The money collected will be used for helping the Primary Government Girls School in Tikli village. In ten of the Gems boxes, there were tickets and the children who got the boxes with the ticket got a book by Roald Dahl! As every good thing comes to an end the Literacy Week ended with a fun assembly in which we watched a few short movies and looked forward to the Readasaurus starting from the 16th. It was a very fun filled week and I enjoyed it a lot!
