 MINI-PEEK INTO HEAVEN FROM A LARGE WINDOW OF A MINI TOY-TRAIN (Part-1)
- Sanjana Sethi (5W)

 Dear Travel Log,
It has not been long since I am de-briefing you again of a beautiful scenic mini-break. The excitement about this one is that we choose to take a quick peek into the Heavenly hills of the North on a Mini train…..the awesome thing about this was that the windows were not so mini. They were about half the height of the train. This train is the” Himalyan Queen”, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it’s track was laid down by the British Raj and was then the highest track in India. The other ones like it are in Dargeeling in the East and Nilgiris, in the South. As History tells us, lots of Indians lost their lives in laying down these Narrow Gauge tracks up in the hills. During most of my trip I just kept wondering, where did the workers sleep at night and where did they get their food and water to drink while making these tracks. Thinking of their plight just kept giving me goose bumps. Did you know that Shimla was the summer capital of India for the Britishers. I still don’t know much about Indian history, but honestly I can’t wait to learn more about it. Our ancestors fought really hard for our freedom, but I think we just forget being grateful to them by remembering them in our daily life.
If you look around, the main big Architectural buildings in India have been made during the British Era, but we fail to remember the Indians who were constructing them.
So my dear Friends, let’s all take pride in being Indians and continue to appreciate and make more wonders around us.

Proud To Be Indian
