HALLOWEEN
Today as I entered the school I saw all of my friends, rather my monster friends dressed up. Witches, wizards, monsters and even leopards greeted me today. In fact even a few teachers were dressed up. We all rushed to the atrium to proudly show off our costumes. Early years, Grade 1, Grade 2 and so on till we reached Grade 5Z. Dr. Naidu suggested we go to teh Amphitheatre and click pictures for our school magazine the Rewind. We happily went and took our pictures posing spookily. That was the end to a happy spooky Halloween for the Pathways Primary School.
here is a poem which is written by me:

here is a poem which is written by me:
Halloween, Halloween
Witches, wizards and giant beans,
All of us are dressing up,
Lipstick, eyeliner and make up,
Tricking or treating for candy
Roads, pavements and beaches that are sandy
Halloween, Halloween
Everyone is eating candy!

Literacy Week
Primary school celebrated Literacy Week from 9th September
2013 to 13th September 2013. We discussed four different authors - H. G. Wells,
Jules Verne, Mark Twain and Anna Sewell - and were involved in a few
interesting activities about these authors like Author Study, Poster making, writing a character sketch and role play. Mrs. Meenakshi, the principal of Primary School, held a story session with fifth grade on the classic book Moby
Dick where we discussed the summary of the book. Since it was Roald Dahl's
birth anniversary on the 13th, in our library period we did a few fascinating
activities about his book. To add excitement to literacy week, we had a Willy
Wonka style Gems sale! The money collected will be used for helping the Primary Government Girls School in Tikli village.
In ten of the Gems boxes, there were tickets and the children who got the boxes
with the ticket got a book by Roald Dahl! As every good thing comes to an end the Literacy Week ended with a fun assembly in which we watched a few short
movies and looked forward to the Readasaurus starting from the 16th. It was a
very fun filled week and I enjoyed it a lot!

I Did My Bit.....
I
would like to thank my Dorm Parent Ms. Sorod Kumari for wonderful guidance that
she gave me in my summer vacations to do something fruitful and meaningful for
the society.
So
then I decided to do something that can help underprivileged children. I made
18 paintings and I sold them in a cultured exhibition which was held on 10th
July, 2013. It was a big challenge for me to make good paintings so that people
would buy that stuff for a reasonable price. The paintings I made was on canvas
material and oil pastels was also used to make them. It took me 3 weeks to do
that. The material cost was Rs.12,000. That I took from my mother and from 18
paintings 15 paintings were sold. From
all of my hard work, I got Rs.23,430. I was so happy when I got the money in my
pocket I felt proud of my self then I gave my mother her expense of the
material Rs.12,000 back and Rs.430 I spent in the temple and 11,000 I gave to
DISHA SCHOOL for children welfare. This was the first time I did something
useful in my holidays . I was really happy . I hope I would do many more
things like that and contribute to a better community.

Primary School Investiture Ceremony
On the 30th of August 2013 Primary school Student Council Investiture
Ceremony 2013-2014 took place. The ceremony started at 8:30 am and was very
interesting. The parents of the new Student Council members were invited for
the Investiture Ceremony. The students of grade 4 started the ceremony with a
song called “Bharat humko jaan se pyaaraa hein”. Then the outgoing Student
Council entered the hall and then came the New Student Council.
There was a
badge ceremony and then the change of guard. The Outgoing Student Council then
took their seats as the new Student Council was presented. The Hosts Vedika
Harnathka and Nolan Rohl were very good and the ceremony ended with Dr. Naidu
saying a few words. On the whole it was a very good ceremony and a memorable
one as I was the Head Girl.

Teachers' Day Celebration
The
student council members worked very hard over the past two weeks to The
student council members worked very hard over the past two weeks to organize
this Teacher’s Day. They kept their discussions Top Secret. They took help of
the rest of the students of Primary School, some teachers and last year’s student
council. This task could not be possible without them. The teachers had to go
out of the class while the students had their discussions. Some discussions
were in the class, while some in the art room.
Every student and every class had
a job to do, each with great responsibility. Class representatives had to make
sure the students did their job, within the time limit given. The art room
discussions included how the programme was going to be put up, how the class
board will be done etc. For the class board, each child was given paper to
write on; their message for the teacher. The board was covered with newspaper
until the special day. It was literally a TASK for the council members to get
the 1st and 2nd graders class board finished in time.
Along with the class board, the council members planned an assembly on 5th
of September. They found many talented children waiting to give their audition
to participate in the show. There were singers, dancers, instrument players and
many more children who were sure they were going to perform well. The council
struggled to make the performances end and start within time. All the hard work
done by the students was appreciated by the teachers. The hard work put by all
came out very well, though it was tough in the beginning. As they say, “All is
well that ends well.”

An Interesting Week
We did many different
activities throughout this week. In Math, we started off with Rounding Off. In
English we started off with Abstract nouns. In Abstract Nouns, we worked on circling
the Abstract Nouns in the net and filling in the blanks with Abstract Nouns or
underlining or circling the Abstract Noun in the sentence. In Hindi also, we learned
about Abstract Nouns, by writing a poem using Abstract Nouns or writing a story
or a paragraph using Abstract Nouns. In our Music lessons, we learned about DAW
which stands for Digital Audio Workstation in which one mixes some music and/or
a song, to get a new one. In sports, we played various sports like gymnastics,
athletics, soccer, cricket, swimming and table tennis. In ICT (Information
Communication Technology), we researched on the kindle and wrote one paragraph
on it. Later in the week, we started with debates. The first topic we wrote was
on Kindle vs. Books. In Visual Arts, we started working with Paper Mache. At
first, we started covering a balloon with Paper Mache. From Monday to
Wednesday, at the end of day, we had Orientation in which we discussed about
leadership. Finally at the end of the week, we had the Investiture Ceremony in
which the Old Student Council Members of Primary School handed over their
leadership to the New Student Council Members and the New Council Members also
got their badges. After the Investiture Ceremony, we had our Home Room Day,
where teachers met our parents for the first time in this term and explained
them the sequence of events planned for the term.

The week gone by
This week in music, we learnt the national anthem , we made
the essential agreements and we also shared information about the different instruments we know
how to play. In Hindi, we revised the letters ja and cha and also wrote
difficult words related to Independence Day. Some students read a poem related
to Independence Day and they also had a spelling assessment. In ICT we wrote our essential agreements on www.padlet.com. Then we created a word cloud on www.wordle.net. We enumerated different ways in which we can use technology to express ourselves. We celebrated the Indian and Korean Independence Day through a special assembly.
